The American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), the leading global Jewish humanitarian organization, announced today that it appointed Jeffrey J. Sussman as its new Chief Marketing and Communications Officer. Sussman, a seasoned marketing and communications executive with more than 30 years of experience, will begin this role on September 22, 2026.

“Jeff brings deep experience leading marketing and communications efforts for some of the Jewish community’s most respected organizations. As JDC continues to respond to urgent needs and strengthen Jewish communities around the world, he will play a vital role in raising awareness and support for our work,” said JDC CEO Ariel Zwang. “Jeff will expand engagement with the supporters, partners, and communities who make that work possible. We are thrilled to welcome him to JDC.”

Prior to joining JDC, Sussman was the Chief Marketing Officer of American Friends of Magen David Adom, where he led marketing, communications, brand, public relations, and digital strategy in support of Magen David Adom, Israel’s national emergency medical, blood services, and disaster-response organization. Previously, he served as Chief Marketing & Communications Officer of the American Technion Society and as Vice President, Marketing Communications at the American Committee for the Weizmann Institute of Science, where he worked for more than two decades.

“I am deeply honored to join JDC, an organization I have admired throughout my career for its extraordinary effectiveness, global reach, and profound impact on Jewish lives,” said incoming Chief Marketing and Communications Officer Jeffrey J. Sussman. “I look forward to working with JDC’s talented professionals, lay leadership, and partners to tell its remarkable story, strengthen its brand and visibility, and inspire even more people to support its life-saving and life-changing work.”

Sussman will oversee JDC’s global marketing and communications strategy, including branding, media relations, digital engagement, creative content, and organizational messaging. He will play a key role in advancing JDC’s fundraising and engagement efforts while helping to elevate the organization’s voice across audiences and platforms.
